Video: Social Media Giants Take on Terrorist Propaganda

These tech companies are taking a collaborative approach.

Terrorist organizations like ISIS have managed to spread their message and recruit new members using the same social media platforms people use to share selfies and cat videos.

Tech organizations Facebook, Microsoft, YouTube and Twitter have formed an alliance and are creating a shared database of unique digital fingerprints of those in terrorist organizations. The database will also include the images removed from one site, making it easier for another site to identify what to take down.

Previously, user complaints were the primary method of identifying terrorist propaganda.
