According to John Hanke, the CEO of Nantic, augmented reality consists of laying information on to the real world, in a way that’s not obtrusive. His company developed Pokémon Go, which was played by millions.

“It’s really the perfect game to transform into an augmented reality game,” he says in this animated interview. “[Augmented reality] is the spiritual successor to the smartphone that we know and love today ... in the end, I think that it’ll make our lives better.”
